Jooseppi Hujanen (1859-1929)

(Note: This text is copied and then revised from the entry at Wikitree, which I also wrote. That page has detailed sources.)

Jooseppi (Josef) Hujanen was born in 1856 on Wiita Farm #10 (Pitkäkoski) in Iisalmi, Finland. He was the son (and only child of five to survive to adulthood) of Nils Nilsson Hujanen and Maria Rönkkö. (He also had four surviving half-brothers from his father’s second marriage.)

His mother Maria died just 12 days before his sixth birthday.

He married Helena Katrina Ryhänen 11 Aug 1879 in Nilsia. They lived initially in Pittkäkoski (Wiita 10 farm) in Iisalmi. Their children Niilo (Nikolai, 1880) and Anna (1882) were born there.

In 1884, they moved to Nerkoo 23 farm. Ville (Wilho, 1885), Johanna (1887), Wiktor (Victor, 1889), Helena (1895), and Hilda (1897) were born in Nerkoo.

Somewhere about 1900 or 1901 they moved back to Wiita. Daughter Tynna was born there in 1902.

In 1909, his son Victor left for America. His son Wille followed no later than 1911.

Jooseppi died on 6 September 1929.
